Job Summary

The role of the Application Consultant is to provide specialized consulting services to assist customers in implementing Cayenta's Utility Billing application. The Application Consultant will provide application specific consulting services to customers, participate in project scope sessions, facilitate business process review sessions including gap analysis, escalate client issues to Project Managers, provide input to Project Managers for customer billing and contract administration, participate in project planning sessions, provide training related to implementing and utilizing Cayenta's applications within the operational structure of the customer's organization, prepare project status/trip reports, follow up with customers on application issues, and coordinate with third party software providers as required. The Application Consultant may serve as a resource to other Harris initiatives bycontributing to product, business and functional requirements, testing of applications, presentations at user groups, or training of other Cayenta colleagues.

Interrelationships: Develop strong relationships with customers, other members of the Business Operations Group and R&D


Job Duties and Responsibilities

1. Provide subject matter expertise and leadership.
The Application Consultant will typically have the most intense and extensive experience with the functional capabilities of Cayenta solutions and the third party products which support those capabilities. It is critical that the Application Consultant acquires and maintains an in-depth knowledge of the Cayenta development environment and related technologies and provides appropriate input to Cayenta to assure that the functional capabilities of Cayenta solutions remains up-to-date and is easy to use and administer. The Application Consultant will serve as a subject matter expert to R&D and to other Cayenta groups and will be assigned to internal projects intended to improve the quality and competitiveness of Cayenta applications, the application expertise of Cayenta colleagues, and the quality of integration of third-party products. The Application Consultant is expected to continuously grow his/her knowledge of customer requirements and business processes, innovative uses of Cayenta solutions, best practices within the industry and Cayenta application capabilities.

2. Assist in growing the Consulting practice within Cayenta.
The Application Consultant will assist the Practice Manager in identifying additional product and services desired by customers that Cayenta could deliver profitably and in maintaining the Cayenta implementation methodology and its application specific deliverables.

3. Develop referenceable customers by fulfilling contractual expectations on-time and on-budget.
The Application Consultant has the responsibility of delivering services that will assure that customer expectations as expressed in the contract and project documentation are met or exceeded, that the customer is willing to provide an unqualified sign-off for each implementation phase in which the Application Consultant participates, and that services are provided within the budgeted times and costs established.

4. General administrative duties and responsibilities.
The Application Consultant will prepare and monitor progress against the assigned portion of project plans, exercising prudence and reasonable control to assure that assets of the company are used efficiently and safeguarded. The Application Consultant will provide input and project status/trip reports to Project Managers in a timely manner and consistent with approved practice for customer billing and contract administration. Job Requirements

  • Previous business and implementation experience is a must
  • Utility experience is an asset
  • Extensive travel required
  • Consulting or training experience an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be organized, highly motivated and detailed-oriented
  • Business degree or equivalent from an accredited university
  • Experience with Financial or Utility Specific Applications an asset
