Cayenta, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Harris Computer Systems, is pleased to announce that Columbia River People’s Utility District (PUD) has reached a significant milestone in their Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementation with the successful implementation of the Cayenta Utilities Customer Information Systems (CIS) product. The PUD went into live operation on Cayenta Utilities on Monday November 3, 2008. Cayenta Utilities is now providing core billing, accounting, reporting and collections for the PUD’s electric customers.
“We are pleased with the timely and seamless conversion to Cayenta Utilities,” said Rick Lugar, PUD Finance and Customer Services Manager. “After months of hard work, the staffs of Cayenta and the PUD completed the data conversion over the weekend and on Monday morning we were taking payments as usual. We sent out 5,000 customer bills in the first week, all of which were both accurate and on time.”
“We are proud to have Columbia River as a part of the Cayenta family” said Brad Atchison, General Manager of the Cayenta Division. “The success at Columbia River PUD is a testament to the products, methodology, people and teamwork in both organizations.”
Cayenta Utilities provides core billing, revenue tracking, rate flexibility and enhanced customer management features such as call and complaint tracking, automatic service order generation and credit control. Cayenta Utilities brings tremendous value to medium-sized utilities and governments.
“Cayenta Utilities is a good fit for our utility. It gives us much automation and flexibility that we were lacking,” said Lugar. “We are confident that Cayenta will meet all of our needs as the PUD grows and changes.”
Columbia River PUD is located in St. Helens, Oregon and provides electric service to 18,500 customers. The PUD’s service area extends from just north of Rainier, Oregon to just south of Scappoose, Oregon, along the eastern portion of Columbia County. The PUD employs 48 people and had FY 2007 gross revenues of $28.4 million.
Columbia River PUD is also implementing the Cayenta Financial, Personnel and Operations Management suite of products, rounding out the complete Cayenta ERP solution. Those implementations will be complete in 2009.
Cayenta Financials and Personnel Management manage not only the core financial functions of general ledger, accounts payable, purchasing and payroll, but also ties key systems back into the accounting department, providing for true financial integration. Operations Management provides assets management, inventory, work planning and job estimating and costing to both operating and finance oriented departments.
“We look forward to the completion and successful implementation of Phase 2 and 3 of the ERP solution,” said Atchison.
